Downtown Augusta businesses are continuing to feel the impact of ongoing construction along Broad Street as crews work under an accelerated timeline to complete major improvements.

The Broad Street Improvement Project stretches through the heart of downtown and includes upgrades such as new sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping, safety improvements and other infrastructure changes.

The city says contractor E.R. Snell is working multiple blocks at once to help speed up the project. The most disruptive work is expected to wrap up by mid-December.

For some business owners, the construction has meant fewer customers and less foot traffic.
