Since 2015, students from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University have been conducting a portion of their clinical rotations at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in Marietta, Georgia. Now, the hospital will be home to nearly 50 third- and fourth-year students for the final two years of their clerkship training at what will be known as MCG Atlanta at Wellstar Health System.

Augusta University provided a $1.55 billion boost to the economy between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023 – a 14.8 % increase over the previous year – and generated 11,579 jobs during that period, according to a new report from the University System of Georgia.

The Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and Augusta University Medical Center are the recipients of federal funding supported by U.S. Sens. Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff as part of this year’s Fiscal Year 2022 Omnibus Appropriations bill, which was approved by both the U.S. House and Senate. The bill is waiting on President Biden’s signature.
